Ports of Call

Ho Chi Minh City (Day 1)

Ho Chi Minh City, also referred to as Saigon, is Vietnam's most bustling and spirited city. Breathtaking in its scope of activities, culture and excitement, Ho Chi Minh City is a modern metropolis with attractions such as museums, art galleries and botanical gardens, along with cultural sites like elegant palaces and stunning pagodas.
Attractions & Activities
The disturbing War Remnants Museum highlights the horrors of modern combat, and especially portrays the suffering inflicted on the Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War. Previously called the Museum of American War Crimes, the name was altered so as not to cause offence to American visitors, but its displays do tell the story from an anti-American perspective.Central Saigon - The Rex Hotel, a famous hangout for American officers during the war, has regained some of its previous glory and is once again the central hub of the city. Nearby is the impressive French-era Municipal Theater, which offers a varied program of events. Also close to the Rex is the magnificent pastel-yellow Saigon City Hall.Botanical Gardens - Located at the end of Le Duan Boulevard, the 130-year-old gardens boast a lovely collection of orchids and other flowers. The small zoo features a number of endangered indigenous animals, as well as other exotic exhibits from overseas.

My Tho (Day 1)

Gateway to the Mekong Delta, My Tho is the capital of Tien Giang province and an important market town – although for the famous floating markets, you’ll need to continue on to Can Tho. Its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) means that My Tho is a popular day-trip destination for those who want a taste of river life – a flotilla of boats tours the local islands and their cottage industries daily. My Tho was founded in the 1680s by Chinese refugees fleeing Taiwan after the fall of the Southern Ming dynasty. The economy is based on tourism, fishing and the cultivation of rice, coconuts, bananas, mangoes, longans and citrus fruit. The riverfront makes for a pleasant stroll and the town is easily explored on foot.

Cai Be (Day 2)

Cai Be is a town in Vietnam. It is in the state/region of Tiên Giang. The population is between 10,000 and 20,000.

Sa Dec (Day 2)

Sa Dec is a small, sleepy town in the Dong Thap province and it was the original setting of the autobiographical novel “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras. This romantic and charming little town still isn’t very touristy and a true hidden gem in the Mekong delta. There is a very busy, authentic market near the river and a lot of architecture from the colonial period, such as the old market, as well as numerous old mansions and merchant homes. One of these houses belonged to the protagonist in Marguerite Duras’ novel and has been lovingly and traditionally restored. The riverside road Nguyen Hue invites for a stroll with its cafés, market stalls and the old French church in the background.

Tan Chau (Day 3)

Tan Chau is a district of An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. The district capital lies at Tan Chau. It is famous for Tân Châu silk with the famous product lãnh Mỹ A which black is dyed by Diospyros mollis's fruit. Tan Chau was formed in 1757. Tan Chau District was the largest province of Chau Doc. It is located in the Mekong Delta, in the southwestern part of the country, sharing a border with Cambodia to the northwest.

Border Crossing (Day 3)

Phnom Penh – Vietnam border (Days 4, 5)

Kampong Tralach > Oudong > Kho Chen (Day 5)

Kampong-Tralach (Day 5)

Kampong Tralach town on the Tonle River in the south east of central Cambodia. Kampong Tralach is located 37 km south of the provincial capital of Kampong Chhnang. Kampong Tralach is the site of the former capital of Cambodia at Lovek. Lovek was Cambodia's main city after the Siamese King Borommaracha II sacked Angkor in 1431. The new capital was located on the banks of the Tonle Sap river, halfway between Phnom Penh and the lower end of the Tonle Sap lake. This new site was chosen to be more defensible than Angkor. The city became a wealthy trading center and attracted various Europeans traders and missionaries through the 16th and 17th centuries.

Oknha Tey Village (Day 6)

Angkor Ban (Days 6, 7)

Kampong Cham (Days 7, 8)

ampong Cham is the capital of the province of the same name and the third largest city in Cambodia. With its Mekong River location and relatively close proximity to Phnom Penh (123km) and Vietnam, Kampong Cham has always been an important trade and transportation hub.

Siem Reap (Day 8)
